December 2024
05.12.24 Elfie has been causing chaos ever since he arrived on Tuesday. On Wednesday, he took our science learning a little too seriously, on Thursday he welcomed back Mrs Templar with a confetti party, and on Friday, he got a little too excited throwing baubles around! What will he get up to next?! |

14.05.24 - Kilve Court - Day Two On our second day of residential, the children in Indigo Class have been getting stuck in to some adventure activities, archery and team building tasks. We have abseiled down and climbed up the 30ft climbing wall. We have fired arrows at the target in the archery range. We have even had time to grass sledge down some steep hills! In the afternoon, we separated into small groups and undertook a series of team challenges and orienteering exercise. Our final night was spent taking part in some outdoor and indoor quizzes. The class have worked as an amazing team today. They have shown excellent communication and listening skills and have made some wonderful memories. |

13.05.24 - Kilve Court - Day One The children in Indigo Class have shown excellent team work, perseverance and determination today. They have battled the weather and undertaken a walk in the Quantock Hills. This was followed by a shelter building activity where they were spilt into teams and tasked to make a shelter using materials found in the forest area. The children made some amazing shelters and some even managed to add some decorative elements (patios, welcome sign and drive through access). After a lovely dinner, the class participated in some team games before a hot chocolate and a well-deserved rest. Mrs Harrison and the other teachers have been incredible impressed by how well the children coped with the heavy rain today. More activities to follow tomorrow. |

March 2024
As we approach the Easter holidays, we have been tremendously proud of all of the pupils’ achievements in Indigo Class. The children have continued to work hard and this is evident in their achievements, across all subjects. They have certainly learnt lots and you should be very proud of them. In maths, we have continued our focus on fractions. We have extended our understanding of fractions and are now able to add, subtract and multiply fractions and mixed numbers. We have also spent time learning about area and perimeter of 2D shapes. This will hopefully give us a good foundation for when we tackle geometry and shape in the Summer Term. For this half term, our focus in English has shifted to non-fiction. We have been understanding the features of instructional texts and explanation texts. Using some unique modern-day inventions, the children have created some magnificent instructional and explanatory texts. During the second part of this half term, our focus in English has moved towards poetry. Taking Animals as our inspiration, the children will be writing their own poems which have been submitted for a poetry competition. In science we have continued learning about life cycles. We have been understanding the stages and processes of the human life cycle, looking at how human change over time. We had a fantastic Science Week where we took part in NFU’s Science Farm Live event and watched a calf being born! As well as this, we explored careers that involved science. We became Forensic Scientists and investigated how chromatology and compound separation can be used to solve a crime. Next term, we will begin learning about materials and their properties. We have combined music and computing lessons this term and explored music production and technology. The children have been composing their own melodies, beats and bass structures. The children have been using Ableton Live (music production software) to produce a variety of different pieces which we have enjoyed sharing amongst the class. We have continued geography which focusses on farming around the world. We have been learning about farming in North and South America. Our lessons have taken us to California, where the children have discovered and learnt about the production of citrus farming. Looking at farming in South America, the children explored how coffee has been manufactured in Peru. The children have worked especially hard this half term and it has been a joy to watch their learning. Thank you again for all of your support with homework and reading. |

Indigo class had a fantastic time learning some key Parkour skills with Alex this today. We learnt how to jump safely, vault over high objects and balance on beams. We also had a chance to practice a 'macaco' a one handed back flip. We really enjoyed this morning and thank Alex and Miss Darch for this opportunity! |

Indigo class enjoyed looking at the range of books on offer at the book fair. The gemstone guides and Dork Diaries were popular with the girls and the boys are keen for the new David Walliams story and the football annual. |

Kilve Court Residential - Day Two
After a little bit of late-night chatting, we managed to have a restful night's sleep. Indigo Class were up early and ready to go! We spent the morning playing wide games on the front lawn. Although we had a few drops of rain, the sunshine came out just before the Tug-of-War. After lunch, we split into two groups and did some archery and rock climbing on the climbing wall. After our free time and evening meal, we got ready for our disco and some time in the maze. Hopefully, we won't be too tired from all the dancing at the disco as we will be shelter building tomorrow morning.
Kilve Court Residential - Day One
We have had a wonderful start to our residential. We arrived at midday and were given the tour of Kilve Court. We have all taken part in some Buggy Building and High Ropes activities. Thankfully, the rain held off which meant that we could explore the maze and play some outdoor games during our free time. After a lovely dinner and some more exploring, we finished off the day with a quiz!

Science Week 2023
As part of Science Week 2023, Indigo Class have been combining our learning about forces and studying the famous engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The children were set a challenge to build a bridge using paper, string and masking tape. Each bridge needed to hold a mass of 500g. We were extremely proud to see such a variety of strategies and designs.

The children finally made it to PGL on Thursday morning and settled in very well. Photos below are of the climbing wall from yesterday and fencing this morning.
Day 2 of fun, fencing, archery, zip line and wall climbing.
We had a lovely party to celebrate the end of a fabulous term in Indigo.
We decided to have a pyjama party and a lot of us wore onesies and slippers. We brought comfy blankets and pillows in and watched a film.
While we were enjoying our film, we had hot chocolate and marshmallows, popcorn, crisps, fairy cakes and biscuits!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from
Indigo Class!
